The objectives of the study are: to examine the significant effect of risk asset management on the return on assets of financial firms in Nigeria, to examine whether there is a significant relationship between risk asset management and the profitability of financial firms in Nigeria and to investigate the significant relationship between risk asset management and the operational efficiency of financial firms in Nigeria. The study is anchored on Modern Portfolio and Risk Management theory. An ex-post facto research design was adopted, and data were collected through the use of secondary sources. Simple percentage table was used to analyze the data and hypotheses were tested with E-View 2025. Findings revealed that effective risk asset management is a critical determinant of financial performance among quoted financial firms in Nigeria. Institutions that implement robust credit risk assessment, maintain diversified asset portfolios, and adopt proactive recovery strategies tend to experience stronger performance outcomes. The study recommended that financial firms must adopt advanced credit scoring models, borrower due diligence, and real-time monitoring systems to assess and mitigate credit risk effectively. The CBN must enforce regular compliance with CBN guidelines, Basel III frameworks, and IFRS standards to promote transparency and accountability.
