The main objective was to examine the importance and impact of electronic serial management in KSU and to evaluate the challenges of electronic serial management in academic libraries. The research design employed was a survey method with the use of questionnaires. Data for the work were collected from both primary and secondary sources. From a population of 70, 65 were sampled. Simple tables and percentages were used for data analysis. The results revealed that electronic serial management represents a crucial evolution in academic library services in Nigeria. It provides faster, more efficient, and broader access to current scholarly materials, enhances research output, and supports academic excellence. However, the transition from manual to electronic serial systems is fraught with technical, financial, and human capacity challenges. Many Nigerian academic libraries are still in the early stages of adopting comprehensive ESM due to funding limitations, poor ICT infrastructure, and inadequate staff training. The study recommends that the federal and state governments should invest in upgrading ICT facilities in tertiary institutions. This includes stable internet access, digital library servers, modern computers, and uninterrupted power supply to support electronic serial operations. Academic libraries should encourage the use of open-access journals and promote the development of institutional repositories (IRs) to store local scholarly works, thus improving visibility and access to Nigerian research. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Library and Information Science project topics and materials you might be interested in»Staff Motivation in Academic Libraries»The effect of social media on reading culture among students»Library catalogue utilization among students in academic libraries - a case study of Federal Polytechnic Idah library»Product marketing: a strategic step for libraries in the information age (a case study of Imo state library board, Owerri)»Effects of poor implementation of collection development policy in academic libraries»Information needs and seeking behaviour of senior non-academic staff of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri»Annotated bibliography on information and communication technology»Awareness and utilization of electronic information resources by library and information science students (a case study of Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Awka) »Information needs and information seeking behaviour of children in public libraries - a case study of Kwara State library board, Ilorin»A study of the information needs of rural health workers in Ebikoro, Owerri north LGA of Imo state»Challenges of ICT applications in law libraries»The availability and utilization of modern information resources in teaching and learning in selected private secondary schools in Owerri metropolis»Effects of library on the academic performances of students in tertiary institutions»Challenges of the management of staff appraisal programme in the library of Imo state (a case study of Imo state university)»Annotated bibliography on English language
