Abstract
This study is on Budgeting: A systematic approach to profit planning and control with a particular focus on MTN, Kogi State. The major objective of this project is to assess the importance of budgeting as a tool for planning and control in the operations of telecommunication company and to know whether budgeting can serve as an approach to profit planning and control in an organization. The methodology adopted for data collection was the survey method, using both primary and secondary sources. The major instrument used to gather data from primary sources is the questionnaire. From a population of 120, a sample size of 92 respondents was selected using Taro Yamane's formula. Findings show that budgeting can serve as a systematic approach to profit, planning and control in mobile telecommunications, and budgeting can enhance organizational productivity and profitability. In view of the findings, it was recommended that an organization should pay attention to the human side of budgeting. It is also important for an organization to make realistic forecasts, sound planning and a good budget, which should ensure the introduction of an accounting system that will guarantee appropriate checks and balances.
