The objectives of this study are to examine the various types of electronic resources in an organization and their characteristics, and to examine the importance and benefits of electronic records management. The research design used was descriptive research. The area of the study was Kogi State Polytechnic. While the population of the study comprises of 40 staffs and the sample size is 20 respondents through the simple random sampling. The instrument for data collection was primary and secondary data which include the use of questionnaires and oral interview. It was revealed that records management has positive impact on the performance of both private and public sector. Thus the researcher recommends that Secretaries in polytechnics in should immediately be retrained by employers, through in-service training, workshops, seminars, and conferences.
