The objectives of the study include: whether accounting information has a positive impact on the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises, to ascertain whether accounting information is relevant to the financial challenges of SMES in Nigeria and to examine the relationship between the financial challenges of SMEs and accounting information. The study anchored on contingency and decision usefulness theories. A survey research design was adopted, and data were collected through the use of both primary and secondary sources of data collection. A simple percentage table was used to analyze the data and hypotheses were tested with X2. Statistical tool. Findings revealed that accounting information can enhance the financial performance of SMEs; it aids their growth and development. Also, accounting information helps SMEs to know their financial position in order to overcome any financial challenges that affect them.
