Abstract
This study examines the role of the accounting information system as an aid in achieving corporate objectives, using Kogi State Government as the study area. The objectives of this study are to: ascertain whether the accounting information system minimizes risk in achieving corporate goals and objectives of an organization; to ascertain whether the quality and validity of accounting information have any relationship to achieving corporate objectives of an organization and to ascertain whether the accounting information system minimizes failure and uncertainties in achieving corporate objectives of an organization. The researcher adopted a survey design method of data collection, which involves the use of primary and secondary data. A questionnaire was used to collect information from respondents.  The population of the study is one hundred and twenty (120) staff and the sample size is ninety-two (92).  The findings reveal that the accounting information system minimizes risk in achieving the corporate goals and objectives of an organization; the quality and validity of accounting information are related to achieving the corporate objectives of an organization; and the accounting information system minimizes failures and uncertainties in achieving the corporate objectives of an organization. The researcher recommends that  apart from employing qualified accountants to handle the processing of accounting information, management should from time to time conduct an in-service training for accountants to enhance their activities that is supplying accurate information for management use.  Managers should have elementary knowledge of accounting generally to enable them to understand the information for quick use. ...
